Even though Powell botched Iraqi/UN diplomacy.

By BARRY SCHWEID, AP Diplomatic Writer

"Personally, I am very much in sync with the president and he values my services. The American people seem to be quite satisfied with the job I am doing as secretary of state." Powell said in an interview with National Public Radio.

Powell also rejected any suggestion that the diplomatic approach he championed at the United Nations was a failure.

I believe if he would have dumped Powell, Bush would have UNFAIRLY taken a metric ton of shit from the media for firing a black man.

I mean, I dont agree with Bush's policies, but I think there are plenty of policy issues you can attack him on without stooping to that stuff, which inevitably would be stooped to.

Time will tell... But the truth is that the French lied to Powell in the winter of 2002 then 'stabbed him in the back' at the UN.

FunkSB is mostly correct "shit from the media for firing a black man"

If Bush fired Rummy for his war plan (strictly hypothetical) then the media would shitt in their pants with glee.

It's no secret Powell was the only Heavyweight pushing for the UN route and that was a PR failure. Powell assured Bush he had the numbers but as I said... France fvcked Powell.
